About

My name is Joram Schurmans. I trained as a cabinetmaker, and somewhere in that process of learning how wood moves and joints hold, I fell in love with objects, the kind that are made with intention, that carry a history, that only get better with time.

That obsession led me to found RAM Furniture in 2004, designing and making my own pieces from scratch. Eight years later, RAM Hardware followed, architectural hardware for those who understand that a door handle or a cabinet pull is never just functional. It's a detail in a larger story.

Chosen Objects is where both worlds meet, and where a broader curiosity takes over. I've always been drawn to the edges where architecture, design, fashion, art and lifestyle converge, the places where someone made a deliberate choice about form, material or proportion. That sensibility shapes everything you'll find here: pieces from my own studios alongside things I've picked up over the years, each one chosen for the same reason.

Not for a style. Not for a period. Simply because it was made well, and worth keeping.
