King — by RAM Hardware
The King is a cabinet knob designed by Joram Schurmans for RAM Hardware, developed from a close study of mid-century hardware and keys — the kind of functional objects that once defined the quality of a well-made piece of furniture. Its rounded, coin-like profile takes its name from the peppermint coins of the Dutch confectionery brand King: small, solid, satisfying in the hand.
The design sits in a tradition that includes the work of Jean-Michel Frank — the influential French decorator whose spare, rigorous interiors defined the Parisian avant-garde in the 1930s — who used similarly refined, understated hardware to bring quiet distinction to his rooms. The King follows that same logic: nothing superfluous, everything considered.
Cast in brass and finished with a bronze patina, the surface is then lacquered to preserve its warmth and depth over time. It has a presence that far exceeds its size — the moment you touch it, the difference is clear.
